I have never tried the back to start function within the GPS before. I recently had my GPS start routing me with the commands northwest at …or sourth at.. and felt something was really wrong. I proceeded to power off my 705, reseat my memory card that contains my mapset and power it back on and then restart my ride. The turn names then came up as I expected them to.
Out and back I would draw the course back on itself even if I had to make a second course that was a reverse of the first.
I have followed a one way course out about 20 miles and then hit back to start. i found that the back to start directions were far more vague like “south at turn 9″ instead of the street name. If i missed a street it was very hard to get back on course. Would you recommend creating an out and back course?
Excellent video! Can you offer advice as to how to edit/modify the route after you have created it to change streets etc. i have tried dragging the points but it will create a triangle to that point and not re-route the course. Can you delete a section and re-route that section? Many thanks.
Do NOT buy the Edge 705, while it has many features the unit is critically flawed with bugs galore! I have one, I ride the same route yet each ride the distance varies substantially due to GPS inaccuracy. The unit goes into auto-pause, records false max-speeds, inconsistent total ascent, etc. They never got the bugs out; DO NOT BUY THIS THING. Instead buy a separate odo/speed with integrated calories and then a separate GPS. Even with the latest software version the 705 is a costly piece of junk
If that could be described as “Creating a Course for Garmin Edge 705 for Dummies” then, as a dummy, I am very impressed as I found it so intuitive and easy to follow.
I will set up my garmin on my laptop, follow your instructions and let you know how it went.
Many, many thanks. Do you have more Edge 705 tutorials?

Het duurt even voordat je alles door hebt, maar werkt verder heel duidelijk. Super dus.
